The Truth About Lying (And Why It Shows Up Everywhere)

I want to talk with you about something we don't always like to look at directly: lying. The little ones, the big ones, the ones we tell other people, and the ones we tell ourselves.
Here's something I've noticed in this work, and it surprises people every time. Lying is rarely a single act. It's a pattern. And the thing about a pattern is that it shows up everywhere. If you lie to your partner, you'll find you also lie to friends, lie at work, lie to people you love, lie to strangers, and most quietly of all, you lie to yourself. The pattern doesn't stay in one room of your life. It moves through all of them. I actually think the soul makes it that obvious on purpose, so you can finally see it.
And once you can see it, you get to ask the real question: Is this a pattern I want to keep?
I want to be gentle here, because patterns like this almost always come from a wound. So many people first learned to lie not out of malice, but out of survival. Maybe the home was chaotic. Maybe there wasn't enough attention or affection to go around, and a child figured out that a good story could earn a little love. That's not a character flaw, beloved soul. That's a soul who learned to protect itself. Sometimes the wound traces back to this life, and sometimes it's much older than that, anchored lifetimes ago and carried forward. Either way, it deserves compassion, not condemnation.
But compassion isn't the same as keeping it. Because here's the deeper truth: Source doesn't lie. It isn't even possible there. It's simply not in the consciousness. Lying is something we allowed in when we entered the density of this earth. So when we choose honesty, we aren't forcing ourselves to be "good." We're remembering what we actually are. We're aligning back to the home we came from.

There's also a subtler layer I want to name, because it catches a lot of awakening souls off guard. Some of the lies we live with aren't even ours, exactly. They're the ego's. When the ego is unhealed and activated, it doesn't carry truth. It can't. It will whisper things that simply aren't real: that person hates you, you're not enough, you have to hide this part of yourself. The work isn't to hate the ego for it. The work is to become the observer. To turn to that voice and say, gently, I'm watching you now. The ego doesn't like being watched, and the moment you start watching, it begins to soften and change. That's how you take your truth back, one honest look at a time.
So if you're noticing a thread of dishonesty in your life right now, I invite you not to spiral into shame about it. Shame is just another way of hiding. Instead, get curious:
Where did this start?
What was I protecting?
And, am I ready to set it down?
Honesty with yourself is the bravest, least comfortable work there is. It's the nitty-gritty, dark-corner kind of work that a lot of "high vibe" spirituality skips right over. But it's also the doorway. You cannot align to the light while keeping the lights off in certain rooms.
